Text Box: These Are Days of Listening for God’s Voice in Our Life At Trinity.
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

"And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night,
and said, Jacob, Jacob.  And he said, Here am I." Genesis 46:2

God is calling! Are we listening? These are truly days of opportunity to walk in faith, pray for guidance and live in love. As we move forward into the Call Process, we are called to open our hearts to God’s will for the future of Trinity Lutheran in Fort Collins. The challenge is before each of us as we, together as the family of Trinity, begin the process of identifying who we are and listening to God’s will for what exciting ministries the future holds.

The lyrics of the beloved song ‘Here I Am, Lord” paint such a clear blueprint for us to follow. We are each called to be open to what God is calling us to be and do. Whether your call is to visit a shut-in, teach a child, volunteer in a ministry or serve on the call committee, it is the Lord calling you. What a holy place to be!

Amid the many opportunities to hear God’s call for your life, serving on the Call Committee when a Pastor is to be called, is one of the holiest of callings. The careful decisions, the prayerful discernment, the active and loving listening to each other and the dedicated, focused hours required all make this a wonderful experience in a person’s faith walk. What a gift to Trinity that we have so many dedicated members who are willing to listen to the call and have agreed to place their name in nomination. I’ve been privileged to be part of many discernment conversations and I know that these decisions have been very carefully discussed, prayed over and thought through prior to agreeing to their willingness to serve. We thank each one of you for that!

As we move forward in the process, I would ask that each of us assume an active prayer posture individually, as well as form an organized prayer support structure that is focused on the task of the Call Committee. We have God’s promise to always be in our midst! Truly, these are days when we need to keep our eyes clearly fixed on God and the future of Trinity’s ministry.

The blessed adventure has begun! Stay prayerful and focused! God’s surprises are never ending!

Blessed to serve in His name,
Marilyn Hartig, Congregational President
