Text Box: The Homelessness Prevention Initiative (HPI)

wishes to thank all those who donated to HPI at the Thanksgiving Service held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church on November 24th. The offering at the service was $5,667.16, all of which goes directly to HPI’s emergency rental assistance to qualifying households in Fort Collins. The ELCA churches in Fort Collins have been faithful
partners of HPI for the past 8 years. Thank you for this support. HPI has received word it has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the national ELCA Domestic Hunger Relief fund. This means 80 families will receive a $25 grocery card in
addition to any rental assistance for which they qualify in 2010. Last year HPI  received a grant of $1,000 for the same purpose.

 Thank you,
Anita Hildebrand, president of HPI Board of
Directors and member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church

Share Colorado Appreciation!
Great thanks to Kathy Perkins, Dick Morton,
Al Deitz, Eugene and Sonja Johnston, Lucille
Weigand and all who have participated in the Share Colorado affordable food program at
Trinity.  This program has provided "Share" boxes of affordable food for distribution at
Trinity for 15 years.  The program will continue in 2010 in Fort Collins at four church locations, but this will no longer include Trinity due to
reduced demand at our location.  Thanks to God for the blessings you have shared with so many in our community!

Trinity thoughtfully packed 40 shoeboxes for 40 children needing to hear the Gospel of our Lord in villages somewhere south of our American border. Thank you to everyone that
included money for shipping and for the
donations toward shipping of the boxes. We collected enough money to ship all 40 boxes. Thank you also to those that donated money so we could fill and pack even more boxes. We blessed the boxes, now we need to pray for the 40 children that will receive these boxes, so that during this season of Advent, the season of light, they will be filled with the light of Christ in their lives.

Thanks for Your Support!
We are truly blessed at Trinity for the
outpouring of offerings during November to help alleviate world hunger as well as
advocacy support on two important issues.
The response to the hunger campaign was as follows: $2,550 for ELCA World Hunger, $1,065 for Domestic Disaster Response, $1,040 for International Disaster Response and $80 Bread for the World for a total of $4,735.

In addition, we received 23 signatures on the letter to President Obama in support of strong action on climate change and 30 sets of three immigration reform postcards to our two U.S. Senators and U.S. House Representative.  Please know that your participation in these efforts does make a difference!

Text Box: Equal Exchange Coffee & Tea News
The Alternative Christmas Gift Fair depleted our coffee inventory, but a new shipment has arrived. This includes both drip grind and whole bean decaf, Bright Day Brew, and the ever-popular Tanzanian Jubilee. As an experiment, we introduce whole bean Organic Sierra Madre Reserve, which sports a stylized mountain lion on the label. The Lutheran World Relief coffee Website describes this coffee:
The puma is a symbol of the strength, triumph and skill of CESMACH, a coffee farmer co-op situated on the edge of the El Triunfo Biosphere in the southeastern corner of the Sierra Madre Mountains. What makes this coffee so special is not only the amazing baked apple and spice flavors, but also the co-op’s work to understand, develop and enhance the craftsmanship of their members. The co-op has risen to the forefront of specialty coffee in Chiapas, Mexico, by linking small-scale coffee farmers to innovative technologies in coffee cultivation. The story of these coffee farmers is an inspirational one, and their work in specialty coffee will serve as a model for small farmers all over the world for years to come.
